Scriptures say we are worth more than rubies {rubies- has prestigious, beauty, benefits, and the ability to impart into a persons life}. What did God really do to us? What do we really have on the inside of us? How did God really create us to be? This is something that the enemy desperately tries to hide from us. He doesn’t want us to know how God created us to be but we’re going to find out today.
Let’s find out! Let’s go to Proverbs 31:10.
Proverbs 31:10 (KJV)
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
Reading from the NIV version for simplicity:
Description of a Worthy Woman
10 [d]An excellent woman [one who is spiritual, capable, intelligent, and virtuous], who is he who can find her? {This is who God is calling us to be} Her value is more precious than jewels and her worth is far above rubies or pearls. {Our Value surpasses Rubies and Pearls} 11 The heart of her husband trusts in her [with secure confidence], And he will have no lack of gain. 12 She comforts, encourages, and does him only good and not evil All the days of her life.
{she does well by her husband to the point that her husband can trust her 100%. She does good by him and not evil. She is a good wife}
13 She looks for wool and flax And works with willing hands in delight. {She enjoys hard work. It brings her pleasure} 14 She is like the merchant ships [abounding with treasure]; She brings her [household’s] food from far away. 15 She rises also while it is still night And gives food to her household And assigns tasks to her maids. {She takes charge over her household and early in the mid-morning, she's an early riser, giving demands and making sure the home is taken care of}
16 She considers a field before she buys or accepts it [expanding her business prudently]; With her profits she plants fruitful vines in her vineyard. {she thinks of the possibilities beyond what she already has, she uses wisdom before she reacts, she buys and tends, watches over the opportunity given to her and it becomes blessed, it grows and it's productive} 17 She equips herself with strength [spiritual, mental, and physical fitness for her God-given task] And makes her arms strong. {She gains strength from the Lord, she has a healthy mindset and she keeps her physical body strong, strong enough to do the works that God called her to do} 18 She sees that her gain is good; {she sees that she is blessed} Her lamp does not go out, but it burns continually through the night [she is prepared for whatever lies ahead]. {Her love for God, her spirit constantly burns for the Father. Nothing can put her light out, she is fully prepared for whatever comes her way because she knows God} 19 She stretches out her hands to the [e]distaff, And her hands hold the spindle [as she spins wool into thread for clothing]. {She can multitask}
20 She opens and extends her hand to the poor, And she reaches out her filled hands to the needy. {she has a servants heart, she offer her hands to the needy, bringing them the help they need} 21 She does not fear the snow for her household, {she is brave and full of courage} For all in her household are clothed in [expensive] scarlet [wool]. {She has the finer things in life} 22 She makes for herself coverlets, cushions, and rugs of tapestry.{She is a Homemaker} Her clothing is linen, pure and fine, and purple [wool]. {she holds a sense of royalty to herself} 23 Her husband is known in the [city’s] gates, When he sits among the elders of the land. {Her husband is blessed by who she is} 24 She makes [fine] linen garments and sells them; And supplies sashes to the merchants.{She has expensive, royal taste. She’s a business women}
25 Strength and dignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure; And she smiles at the future [knowing that she and her family are prepared]. {She knows who she is, She is strong and secure, she can't be moved by every little thing} 26 She opens her mouth in [skillful and godly] wisdom, And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue [giving counsel and instruction]. {She carries a meekness spirit of God} 27 She looks well to how things go in her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness. {she’s not lazy or slothful} 28 Her children rise up and call her blessed (happy, prosperous, to be admired); Her husband also, and he praises her, saying, 29 “Many daughters have done nobly, and well [with the strength of character that is steadfast in goodness], [f]But you excel them all.” {Her family rise up and call her blessed because of who she is} 30 Charm and grace are deceptive, and [superficial] beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the Lord [reverently worshiping, obeying, serving, and trusting Him with awe-filled respect], she shall be praised. {She's humble, She is a Woman of God} 31 Give her of the product of her hands, And let her own works praise her in the gates [of the city]. {She doesn’t have to brag about who she is or what she has, her works says it all}
